Karen's Thoughts on Herbie.....
Herbie was my good friend...I had known him for 34 years. I worked with him at Zane Commercial Printing in Kingston, Ohio Herbie was a jokester...I remember him putting a can of open sardines in Neil's mom's car (she worked there too) and she didn't find it for a week, but she smelled it for a month...When the plant went out of business I think her went to Craftsman & I went to Webb's. Then I worked for Printex The advertiser & The Ross County Paper....and I know he worked for Webbs & First Capital... I really don't know the order...It was funny...all the same people just hop from Print shop to print shop.... It's in your blood...
I was so surprised when I rolled into the fairgrounds and there was Herbie with a big ole grin on his face...just like always.. He was a little older & a little fatter I was a little older & a little Fatter...Makes for better hugs...Herbie & Barb were really good to us during the years at New Beginnings. He would get out there & move those bleachers anywhere I wanted them ....If I changed my mind....& didn't like it ...He move them again....he'd just shake his head...
Herbie was a good guy... I can say that he never said anything out of line to me in all the years that I knew him. I really respected him for that...I didn't know Barb that well but I knew she was a good woman to him...He loved her & his kids. you could tell by the gleam in his eyes & the smile on his face when he talked about them. Anyway he was a treasure I'll never forget! Hopefully we'll cross paths again in heaven.
